I found the cross cultural experience in Senegal to be rich. Meeting with healers and medical doctors I developed an appreciation for the art of medicine. Meeting with teachers and principals, I developed an understanding of the importance of getting a good education, staying active and what options there are for retirement - which opened my eyes to how other people work and live in the world. Meeting with linguists I developed an understanding for how an oral language becomes a written one. I was entertained and inspired by watching complex dance steps, and listening to original music on strange and familiar instruments. Traveling is a wonderful way to learn about the world and yourself and I highly recommend this well-organized trip, tailored to your interests.
